What this is
Hacker News Atlas is an independently run project publishing aggregate statistics and plain-language summaries computed from public data. It is provided for general information and curiosity and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Hacker News or Y Combinator.
Your submissions
Suggestions and messages are voluntary. A submitted idea may be read, grouped, summarized, and used to improve the site without attribution or compensation. A name or email is optional and used only to reply. Do not submit anything unlawful or anything you lack the right to share, and do not submit passwords, private keys, financial or health information, identity documents, or other sensitive personal content. The Privacy Policy explains what is retained and which service providers process form delivery.

Subject to these terms and any rights or conditions attached to the underlying sources, you may quote, analyze, and reproduce limited portions of the project's published aggregate data and factual statistical outputs for personal, academic, journalistic, or internal business use. You must credit Hacker News Atlas, link to the canonical page or data source, preserve material provenance and limitation notes, and not imply sponsorship, affiliation, or endorsement.
This limited permission does not allow bulk republication of the dataset, sale or sublicensing of the dataset as a substitute service, removal of provenance, misleading presentation, or mirroring, framing, cloning, or republishing substantial portions of the site's presentation as a substitute service. It does not license source code, site design, prose, charts, graphics, the Hacker News Atlas name or marks, raw Hacker News submissions, Y Combinator or Hacker News names and marks, or any third-party material. Those materials remain subject to their owners' rights and applicable law. A separate notice shipped with a particular file controls if it expressly says otherwise. Contact the project before any use outside this permission.

Acceptable use

Underlying data and third-party material remain subject to their sources' rights. Except for the limited dataset permission above, this project's source code, analysis, text, design, graphics, and identity are © 2026 Hacker News Atlas, all rights reserved. Referenced trademarks belong to their owners. Copyright, canonical, licensing, and provenance notices may not be removed or falsified. External links, including Hacker News, have their own terms and privacy practices.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for damages arising from use of, or reliance on, this site or its data.
